Athens Video Art Festival is the official Greek festival for video art. It aims to the support of digital culture and the promotion of this modern and innovative form of expression, giving the artists additional motives to create, and a platform to share their artistic vision with the public. Through its three very successful previous materializations, the festival has been endorsed by national factors and media and has gained the support of a big number of artists around the globe.
Athens Video Art Festival is held annually.

Athens Video Art Festival 08 will take place on the 11th -12th-13th of April 2008, at “Technopolis” of the Municipal of Athens.

Artists may participate with works of video art, installation art*, web art and performance art.
(*For practical purposes, the initial “installations” category has been split to two: video installations and installations that do not utilize video)

There is no entry fee.

No restrictions apply regarding the subject. In the case of submission of video art, the length of the video should not exceed 15 minutes. The video must be submitted in DVD (PAL) or mini dv format. Artists have the right to participate with more than one works, with a maximum of four. A separate entry form must be completed for each one.

Postmark deadline: 31th January 2008.

The festival is open to both Greek and foreign artists alike.

How to participate:

Fill in the online pre-entry form, found on this web site

Download and print the official entry form (different than the online pre-entry form), except in the case of submission of “web art”, where only the online pre-entry form is required. Fill it in and send it along with the following:

a. Your work (in the case of video art) in dvd or mini dv format. In the case of submission of a video installation, the video that is utilized. In the case of a performance (live art), a filming of the performance will be considered a definite advantage but is not required. In the case of submission of an “installation” (that does not incorporate video), photographs of the installation either in printed or electronic form are required (in the latter case, these can be included on the data cd described below).
β. A data cd containing the following:
(i) 2-4 photographs of the work you are submitting (video stills in the case of submission of video art)
(ii) a short biography [50-100 words]
(iii) description of the work [50-100 words]
